- Give respect. You must be respectful of others who post on the blog. No personal attacks on anyone else’s character or intentions.
- Get respect. The goal is to post something that will enlighten people who disagree with your perspective such that they better understand why you believe what you believe and they develop more respect for you and others on your side of the argument.
- Stay on topic. Do not employ “red herrings”.
- Be truthful and provide evidence. When you post something, it should be something that you sincerely believe is true – not something just to be inflammatory or misleading. Check your facts before posting something and provide links to articles to support your facts.
- Use reliable and reasonably unbiased sources. This is a link to the Ad Fontes Interactive Media Bias Chart. https://www.adfontesmedia.com/interactive-media-bias-chart-2/ It rates specific articles in two categories: Reliability and Bias. To be acceptable, an article must have: (note – this needs tweaking. Never seen this used,. Suggestions?)
- a reliability score of at least 35 and
- a media bias of no more than “20” (either plus or minus).
- Any article below 35 on reliability or more than 20 on bias are not considered to be acceptably objective and truthful.
