This is a photo of Renee Nicole Good. She recently moved to Minneapolis. She has three children. Now take a look at this lady’s photo. She is an American citizen and assume she is your daughter or your wife or your sister or your dear friend. And you have just received the news that she has been shot and killed by federal agents at the place where she went to drop off her 6 year child for school. From all accounts I have seen, she was a kind, gifted and lovely person. So as her husband, father, sibling or friend, you then learn that the most senior officials with the US government, including the President, have said she deserved to be killed because she was a domestic terrorist. Really, put yourself in that setting, the person that you knew and loved and respected as a mother and poet and friend has been accused of being a domestic terrorist by the US government and accordingly shot dead.
Our government leaders could have said that a terrible mistake had been made. But no, there are no apologies. This President and the director of Homeland Security say the agent who shot her dead was justified in doing so because your wife, daughter, sister or dear friend was a terrorist trying to run down ICE agents.
America used to be great because America used to be good. There was a time when if federal officials did something that was terribly wrong, like shooting this wonderful innocent woman dead, that those in authority would admit a great tragedy had happened and then set about to ensure it did not happen again. No longer. These people who control our lives NEVER admit they are wrong about anything and always justify everything. The saddest part of all is that there are millions of Americans who don’t have a problem with this. They find a way to justify it.
And That is the greatest tragedy of all.
