1st Post regarding Dems aligning more w Jesus’ teachings than Magas. Posted on Sep 10, 2022
So let’s begin with the charge that Dems are pro-illegal immigrants. Now, I certainly don’t want open borders for anyone from anywhere to move to America. And I have never met anyone who does. For the record, the highest rate of deportations occurred under a liberal Democrat: Barak Obama who booted nearly 400K illegal aliens annually. Trump was 2nd with 275K per year. Bill Clinton placed 4th by ejecting four times as many illegals/year as Reagan or Bush 41.
One of the areas where the Dems have differed from the Magas was how to de-incentivize the illegals from coming to our southern border. Obama implemented the Alliance for Prosperity Program designed to improve conditions in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, the countries that were generating so many refugees, so that people there would not feel compelled to come to the US.
The MAGA approach to disincentivize people from coming here was to make conditions so bad for them in America that they would stay home or go elsewhere. The solution: separate parents from their children and then deport the parents back to their home country. Once the word got around that this was the new policy of the US, it did work to reduce the number of families seeking to cross the border.
IMHO, the approach of helping make conditions more positive so people will stay put is more in keeping with Jesus’ emphasis on compassion than the MAGA approach of making things so terrifying for parents that they will be afraid to come here.

I applaud David’s challenge to those in the Republican party that sympathize and/or support the attitudes and policies of Trump which violate the simple principle that all people should be treated equally with dignity and respect. That means that “Making America Great Again” should not include ridicule and discrimination against those who think, look or act differently, advocate white supremacy, nor advocate that the government privilege one religious group over another or do anything to make it more difficult for anyone to vote. This follows from the basic Christian principle taught by Jesus, treat others as you would want to be treated. Democrats are no less obliged to follow these principles. I believe that a person is “Christian” only to the extent that he/she is a follower of Jesus. Jesus never said that what you say you believe really matters, he said what you do is what is important because it is the evidence of what principles truly guide your life.
I am a conservative Republican who voted for Trump twice and will again in 2024. I am neither racist or a white supremacist. Trump was also neither of these things.
As for separating parents from children, Obama did this also. Remember the pictures of children in cages which the press lead folks to believe were current pictures during the Trump administration. They were actually pictures during the Obama administration from 2014. The parents were sent back with there children. Many of the children now coming are due to child trafficking and come without parents. This is what Trump stopped and Biden open up again. That is not being Christian. Fentanyl is coming across the border in record amounts killing people in the US. Trump slowed that down a lot. Biden has increased it by record amounts. Is that being Christian. Republicans in Congress actually give more to charities than the democrats give.
Biden has politicized the DOJ and FBI against his political enemies. They raided 35 Republican homes last week for no reason. These are Democrat witch hunts.
